Many home owners and contractors need help to confirm the proper size egress well and window for their basement. We hope this article assists in providing dimensions and compatibility of Wellcraft egress wells, well covers, and egress windows.
Key characteristics to consider when selecting a Wellcraft window well & cover
Window Size: What is the width of the window?
If your window is greater than 48" wide then you may wish to look at the Wellcraft 6700 series window well. The Wellcraft 6700 window well will support up to a 60" wide window.
Above Grade Placement. How is your window positioned?
If the window extends above grade then you you'll need to consider a domed window well cover like the 5600 series dome.
The Wellcraft Product Line
Wellcraft produces 4 different Egress window well sizes along all with corresponding covers. The following are descriptions and some visuals for each of these products.

Wellcraft 5600 Sectional Window Well
Wellcraft 5600 Egress window well
The 5600 series egress well is designed to accommodate up to a 4' wide egress window. This unit is unique in that it's a modular window well and is constructed in sections to the desired height. Each section contains a built in ladder for easy access and IRC Section R310 Building Code Compliance.
A typical installation is 4 sections for a height of 62.8"

Wellcraft 2060 Egress Window Well
Wellcraft 2060 Granite Grey window well
The 2060 series egress well supports up to a 4-foot wide egress window. This solid unibody construction is available in both Granite Grey and Sandstone colors depending on your color preference.
Standard unit height for the 2060 is 60 inches tall and with the optional 12" extension it can reach a full height of 72".

Wellcraft 6700 Large Size Window Well
Wellcraft 6700 3 step terraced window well
The 6700 series egress well is the largest of all the Wellcraft wells and can support up to 5 foot wide Egress Windows. This is constructed from 3 interlocking terraced egress steps.
The exterior width is 76.5", and the internal well width is 67".
Wellcraft 6700 is offered in both Granite Grey and Sandstone finishes.

Wellcraft 2062 Window Well
The 2062 Egress Window Well is a solid single body unit designed for smaller size installation. The 2062 will accommodate up to a 36" wide Egress Window.
Available in both Sandstone and Granite Grey color finishes.

Wellcraft Egress Windows
Wellcraft Egress windows are engineered to meet International Residential Code (IRC) Section R310 for functional egress.
This code is regarding the following parameters:
- Sill height of windows above floor not to exceed 44" tall
- Minimum opening area greater or equal to 5.7 square feet
- Minimum opening height of window greater than or equal to 24 inches tall
- Minimum opening width of window greater or equal 20"
Wellcraft Window Well Covers
All Wellcraft well covers open from both the inside and outside with a secure and durable 4 point loop and hook system. These covers keep dirt, and debris out of your window well reducing the need to clean while still allowing sunlight to enter through your basement window. These covers are ideal for preventing accidental falls by children or pets and provide additional security and safety for your home.
The flat polycarbonate covers will support up to 500 lbs. of weight. The 5600 dome cover supports up to 350 lbs. of weight.
