If you've ever wanted to replace the siding on your home you may have experienced sticker shock after getting estimates for natural stone siding. That's why so many people love how cost effective the Versetta Stone system is compared to traditional stone siding.
Versetta Stone siding costs between $17-20 per square foot. It is sold in bundles of two panels, each panel is 8" x 36" and covers two square feet. The Versetta Stone system can be installed without a stonemason and is DIY-friendly.
Here are just a few of the advantages of the Versetta Stone System:
- Lightweight and easy to work with
- Looks and feels like real stone
- Variety of colors
- DIY and home owner friendly
- Lower cost than real stone
- No mortar required (less mess)
- Fast Install, less labor
1. Easy Installation
While Versetta Stone siding isn't as simple as sticking the siding to the wall and then calling it quits, it can be installed by just about anyone. This type of siding does not require a professional for installation. Many contractors will install Versetta stone siding for you, but most people are perfectly capable of installing it themselves.
According to Versetta Stone's Installation Instructions, if you want to install the siding on your own, you will need the following few tools:
- Hammer or nail gun
- Circular and Chop saw
- Hand grinder
- Level
- Chalk line
- Tape Measure
- Tin Snips
- Screwdriver
Pro Tip: When installing siding be sure to stagger the panels so that the gaps between them aren't vertically aligned. This will improve the aesthetics of the panels and strengthen the siding.

2. Versetta Stone looks and feels like real stone
Versetta Stone is engineered from pressed concrete. These stone veneer panels are available in three different styles and eight colors. With these options, you can be sure to find the perfect fit for your home. The three styles of stone siding offered by Versetta are:
Ledgestone Style
Ledgestone has the rough-cut appearance of traditional dry stacked stone. This relaxed pattern has greater variation in stone sizing on each panel and is generally more staggered in between layers.
This Versetta Stone style offers a striking option as an accent wall, or fireplace wrap. It also adds an eye catching contrast with other materials such as wood, or stucco due to its unique texturing.
Versetta Ledgestone Sterling Style
Versetta Tight-Cut Sterling Style
Tight-Cut Style
Tight-Cut offers the put together and sophisticated look of expertly cut and artisan placed stone work. There are less variation in stone sizing and staggering between layers making it a bit more formal than Versetta Ledgestone.
A popular choice for both residential or commercial remodeling projects and great for that exterior wainscoting wall-wrap around a home.
Carved Block Style
The Carved Block design is uniform in shape, size providing a clean look. This style is offered in two color finishes; Midnight and Sea Salt. Midnight is a mix of dark gray, black and brown tones designed for darker applications.
In contrast the Sea Salt design is a mix of white and taupe tones for a lighter tonal mix.
Carved block is ideal for residential or commercial applications seeking a clean, or modern style.

4. DIY and home owner friendly
Stone veneer panels have become increasingly popular in recent years partly because of their ease to install. Stone veneer panels are lightweight in comparison to traditional masonry and each panel can be lifted and put in place single handed.

These panels also differ in that they can be installed by an average person, or contractor with standard 1 -5/8" or 2-1/4" screw fasteners and an impact driver.
This makes installation approachable and most small to mid size installations can be completed over a weekend. This product of course can be installed by any quality siding contractor or carpenter should you not want to do it yourself.
5. Lower cost than stone masonry
Professional masonry work looks beautiful, however the price can be expensive if the project requires the services of a mason. Paying a skilled mason incurs additional costs due to the specialty of their work along with licensing, bonding, insurance, and general overhead.
Versetta Stone is DIY friendly and can be installed by a handy homeowner or a general contractor depending on your situation.
Cost of installation:

Brick Siding | $70-$110 | $7-$15 |
Natural Stone Siding | $70-$110 | $25-$32 |

6. No mortar = less mess
Standard brick or stone masonry involves using mortar to join the material together and fill in the cracks between stone. This process has been proven over time and generally works well, however a drawback of this method is the cleanup. Mortar project can require additional time and energy for removing the excess from the wall face, or cleaning the splatter from the ground.
Typical removal of unwanted mortar is done by using a wire brush and then applying an an acid solution made of a strong muriatic acid and water mix. Many professionals will do this work themselves, however if you want to guarantee that you won't get stuck with the cleaning then Versetta Stone is the perfect solution.
Versetta Stone veneer siding is applied to the wall with standard screw fasteners removing the need for any mortar fills/joints and makes installation cleanup a breeze.
7. Installs fast with less labor
Key benefits of using the Versetta Stone panel system is saving time, and money.
50 square feet of Versetta Stone Siding can be installed by a single person in roughly 16 minutes. All of this is due to the engineered interlocking panel system. The panels set in place next to one another and use fasteners and a impact driver that most people already have in their home.
